Big ups to our good friends to the north, Team Lope Tyre Clubbe. I had the opportunity to bring my road bike up to San Francisco (SF) and Team Lope graciously put together a jaunt through Presidio, Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito, and Marin County.
Started my Saturday morning at the Ferry building meeting up Team Lope riders Blair and Thom. We touristed it up crossing the Golden Gate bridge over to Sausalito. Rode some scenic paths over to the Paradise loop. The Paradise loop is one of the nicest loops I have ever ridden. Nice switch back rollers for miles with a lot of tree coverage keeping you cool. Not a lot of car traffic, but plenty of cyclist out. According to Thom, you can do the loop in reverse and do even more climbing. I like the "Choose your own Adventure" aspect of areas like these. It makes it interesting giving you so many options you're never bored. But, just like the book take a wrong turn and you could die of malaria. By malaria, I mean realizing you have to back track while climbing to just climb more. It was a good ride made better with great company, and donuts (even though they weren't powdered).
I assume if you're reading this blog you like playing bikes. So I urge you to go out, ride and explore your city. I had a great time cycling SF and Marin County, but don't get it twisted LA > your city.
