LeBron James to the Miami Heat

Image from here.

Worlds collide and tectonic plates shift. The pro peloton is about to erupt. Read my previous post where I compared the pro cycling free agency to the NBA's blockbuster free agent market. Can the parallels get anymore closer? I think not. Pro cycling's (NBA) premiere superstar Contador (LeBron James) decides to sign with Bjarne Riis' (Pat Riley) cycling team (Miami Heat). Specialized (Chris Bosh) has aslo decided to sponsor the team again, but not become a title sponsor (Bosh takes a pay cut to join team). Fabian Cancellara (Dwayne Wade) is staying with the team.

With Riis assembling his super team, the Schleck Brothers (Derrick Rose and Carlos Boozer) are probably going to form their own team (Chicago Bulls) with Kim Andersen and Brian Nygaard managing the squad. Count on a few riders who will jump ship from Team Saxo Bank and join the brothers. Namely, Jens Voigt (Ronnie Brewer) and Stuart O'Grady (Kyle Korver).

The 2011 season should will be exciting to watch. The Contador v Lance saga is over, but a new rivalry is born.
