MASH for Cinelli Bar Tape

Via Prolly.

Topography bar tape. From the MASH photo spots to Cinelli bar tape, and not to mention it doesn't get any classier than Cinelli. MASH's creative minds are definitely doing it. FRESH TO DEATH.

RIP Cervelo Test Team

"Cervélo TestTeam will not ride into the 2011 season, but the team is merging with Garmin-Transitions to become the Garmin-Cervelo team for next season."

More big news coming from the pro peloton. 2011 is going to be an exciting year. Although the new team won't have Carlos Sastre, as he signed with Team Geox for 2011, I'm sure management won't let the new team fail. Also, Cervelo to sponsor the bikes for the new team. Felt was given the option to sponsor but declined.

I Swear Lance

Excerpt from The Onion

""Look, I'm not going to sugarcoat this. It's bad," Armstrong said during the nationally televised press conference. "But you have to swear to God that you won't get mad when I tell you, because if you get upset and yell about how you're really disappointed I'm just going to walk out of here."

"Okay?" Armstrong continued. "You guys promise?""

Edge Announces Name Change

Old Edge logo.

New ENVE logo.

New logo and name fail. The logo straight up looks like a tribal tattoo, and Enve will never sound as hardcore as Edge.

The reason for the name change is another fail.

"Trademark issues in Europe have been problematic for the three year-old company. Founder Jason Schiers said, “When we started the company three years ago, we were focused mainly on gaining a foothold in the domestic market. We were Engineers, Designers and Cyclists, and frankly, we didn’t consider checking for trademark registrations outside of the U.S. Obviously our reputation overseas has outgrown this mindset and it has become an issue recently.""

Better start buying all those Edge branded components you can, because who wants a tribal tattoo on their seat post, stem, fork, bar, or hoops.

Mash Photo Spot Stickers

Via Prolly.

Mash killing it with the clever ideas.

"The intended purpose is for it's user to offer up a suggested location for others to create a scenic image of their own. A play on Kodak's original Photo Spot campaign found in theme parks, and national parks around the world. We look forward to this being an ongoing icon for others to share their own favorite locations from rides around the world. "

Marin County Jaunt Photos

So at this t-stop the cops around the area put a mannequin inside a cop car to deter people from running the stop sign. It didn't work as I ran the stop sign to look at the fake cop drinking fake coffee.

Thom bought all the powered donuts and just ate them all. Just like he did on ALC9.

SF Ride with Team Lope

Big ups to our good friends to the north, Team Lope Tyre Clubbe. I had the opportunity to bring my road bike up to San Francisco (SF) and Team Lope graciously put together a jaunt through Presidio, Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito, and Marin County.

Started my Saturday morning at the Ferry building meeting up Team Lope riders Blair and Thom. We touristed it up crossing the Golden Gate bridge over to Sausalito. Rode some scenic paths over to the Paradise loop. The Paradise loop is one of the nicest loops I have ever ridden. Nice switch back rollers for miles with a lot of tree coverage keeping you cool. Not a lot of car traffic, but plenty of cyclist out. According to Thom, you can do the loop in reverse and do even more climbing. I like the "Choose your own Adventure" aspect of areas like these. It makes it interesting giving you so many options you're never bored. But, just like the book take a wrong turn and you could die of malaria. By malaria, I mean realizing you have to back track while climbing to just climb more. It was a good ride made better with great company, and donuts (even though they weren't powdered).

I assume if you're reading this blog you like playing bikes. So I urge you to go out, ride and explore your city. I had a great time cycling SF and Marin County, but don't get it twisted LA > your city.

Benji Wagner for Rapha

The 2nd photo reminded me a lot of ALC. Everyday you can count on someone hanging some freshly washed laundry where ever possible. Trees, chain link fences, line between 2 neighboring tents, or the ground.

Some SF Love

Via Mixtape Velo Crue Facebook Page.

I'll be in San Francisco (SF) this weekend and since I'm road tripping it up I thought I'd bring my bike. I'm linking up with Team Hype rider Magnus, Team Lope, and Mixtape Velo Crue and friends for a nice jaunt through the bay area. Team Lope graciously set up the ride and it should be a good one. Excited to see some good people I haven't seen since ALC9, and tear up SF Team Hype style (who's bringing the SAG?).

BTW, Team Lope rider Thom loves powdered donuts.

Velo Cult Illustrated Bike Posters

So well executed. The inspiration for these prints came from photographing rare bikes. These prints represent the favorite angles of those rare bikes.

"These prints come as a set of 4. They are each printed on an 18x24 sheet of thick premium watercolor paper. Also, each print was hand silk screened here in San Diego using a 3 color process. I need to state again that these are hand made and each set is unique in how the ink hit the paper. Only about 5 sets were made, 2 of which are being offered here."

Velo Cult is killing it. So is San Diego in general, taking up my last 3 posts.

SD Ride with Team Hype

See more here.

Myself and Team Hype rider Carlos handled one of his San Diego (SD) routes. The loop took us through Hillcrest, Mission Hills, UCSD, La Jolla Cove, and San Diego River Trail. We took advantage of the cool overcast morning heading towards the coast. I wanted to try and climb Torrey Pines, but time and stomach constraints hindered any idea of it. Towards the end of the ride the sun started peeking through the clouds and I got the customary cycling cap forehead tan. Next time, we're going to try and climb Escondido again. The last time we were there it was an epic day which deserves it's own post. Good ride with a great friend.

Finally. Catlike now has a North American distributor, so you no longer have to cop overseas or smuggle one. Been a fan of Catlike for a minute due to the unique design, and (like a true beast) it was hard to get one. I'll just want till it's on Amazon for cheap.
