Team Hype Rides Tour de Cure

Earlier today Team Hype and the LAFixed.com crew rode the 60 mile course for Tour de Cure in Long Beach, CA. Tour de Cure is a series of fundraising cycling events to benefit the American Diabetes Association. I decided to do this event for 2 reasons. 1, use it to gauge my training for ALC9. 2, I have family members affected by diabetes. 2 birds 1 stone, count it.

We had home court advantage for this ride. We have been training for ALC9 by climbing in PV and rode the majority of the course before except for the parts going through Long Beach. It was nice to ride across the 2 bridges linking San Pedro and Long Beach. The most taxing part of the ride was the climb up Anchovy. Even though Anchovy was only 0.08 miles it was at a 13-14% grade. NO BABIES. My only gripe about the ride was the support at the rest stops. Not to knock the volunteers, but the lack of food at stops was not the business.

At the end Kristin met up Team Hype and we were greeted by the best sign. One side said I HEART TEAM HYPE. The other side, you guessed it, NO BABIES. I would definitely do this ride again. You could choose from the 60, 30, 20, 10, 8 mile routes so you have no excuse for not doing this next year, unless you are a baby.

Good ride. Great people. Worthy cause.
