Cancellara Wins Fourth World Championship Time Trial

Fabian Cancellara won his 4th World Championship time trial. He didn't win it by seconds he won it by almost 2 minutes. Straight smashed on the entire peloton. True beast fashion. The first loser (2nd place) went to David Millar. Not to discredit Millar as a cyclist, but there's no beating someone nicknamed "The King of the Time" at a TIME trial.

DO YOU FABI, DO YOU.

Race Results
1Fabian Cancellara (Switzerland)0:58:09
2David Millar (Great Britain)0:01:02
3Tony Martin (Germany)0:01:12
4Richie Porte (Australia)0:01:19
5Michael Rogers (Australia)0:02:25
6Koos Moerenhout (Netherlands)0:02:40
7Luis Leon Sanchez Gil (Spain)0:02:44
8David Zabriskie (United States Of America)0:02:51
9Maciej Bodnar (Poland)0:03:00
10Gustav Larsson (Sweden)0:03:01
23Jack Bauer (New Zealand)0:04:17
I guess Jack went to New Zealand after fleeing from American and Russian Agents. Not to smart taking up cycling and racing in the World Championship time trial, where everyone will be watching. Jack, you need to learn to hide.

Contador Positive Doper

Too good to be true. Even Menchov thought so on the podium.

Words from Cyclingnews.

“The UCI confirmed today that Spanish rider Alberto Contador returned an adverse analytical finding for clenbuterol following the analysis of urine sample taken during an in competition test on 21st July 2010 on the second rest day of the Tour de France. This result was reported by the WADA accredited laboratory in Cologne to UCI and WADA simultaneously.

“The concentration found by the laboratory was estimated at 50 picograms (or 0,000 000 000 05 grams per ml) which is 400 time less than what the antidoping laboratories accredited by WADA must be able to detect.”

“In view of this very small concentration and in consultation with WADA, the UCI immediately had the proper results management proceedings conducted including the analysis of B sample that confirmed the first result. The rider, who had already put an end to his cycling season before the result was known, was nevertheless formally and provisionally suspended as is prescribed by the World Anti-Doping Code.

“This case required further scientific investigation before any conclusion could be drawn. The UCI continues working with the scientific support of WADA to analyse all the elements that are relevant to the case. This further investigation may take some more time.

“In order to protect the integrity of the proceedings and in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code, the UCI will refrain from making any further comments until the management of this adverse analytical finding has been completed."

Even though it was only a trace clenbuterol, you can't hide the truth. YOU DON'T HAVE TO COME AND CONFESS, WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU. WE GON FIND YOU! SO YOU CAN RUN AND TELL DAT! I see you Antoine Dodson.

See what I did thar?

Jesus Rides Dura-Ace

Jesus Shuttlesworth that is. Actually, it's Ray Allen from the Boston Celtics. If you have no idea who Jesus Shuttlesworth is, you better set up your basketball movie game. Indy Fab and Berlin Bicycle got together with Ray Allen to create a custom bike for the all star. Indy Fab provided the custom tubing and lugging, and that god awful Celtic green. Oh by the way, Ray Ray knows how to stunt. He's got Shimano Di2 rounding out the rig.

On the other hand, Yao Ming doesn't.

Yao's ugly ass custom from here.

McFetridge 3 Speed Fixie

Geoff McFetridge and a custom Parlee TT frame walk into a bar. They have a few dranky dranks, go back to Geoff's place and a months later this beauty pops out. Fairwheel bikes got in touch with McFetridge to do another custom project. This time it was a 3 speed monster. The black graphics are actually nude carbon. McFetridge laid down a resist material over the parts he wanted to remain nude carbon, then blasted it with white, removed the resist material and presto. A unique design by one hellueva artist. Sorry beasts, it's one of one.

    Social Bicycles GPS Bike Lock

No, thats not a Simon. Social Bicycles, or SoBi, have created "a GPS-enabled device that affixes to the rear wheel of a bike set to be offered up to others. Those others can call up a mobile app to locate available rides and retrieve the password necessary to unlock them. Once done pedaling they can just lock the thing up again and it's immediately added to the queue of available human-powered chariots."

Real dope concept. I wonder how it'll work in major cities. Especially in car-centric metro areas. I can see it being viable in New York but not so much in Los Angeles.

    Rockboard Fail

    Rockboard Booth

WTF! This is one some elliptical bike steez. Saw the Rockboard on TOLA's flickr from 2010 Interbike and immediately I was shaking my head (SMH) and laughing out loud (LOLing) in disgust. How gimmicky do inventors, if you can call them that, have to make these scooters. Just go out and ride a damn bike. I'm a million percent sure you'll get to places faster and get a better workout. Unless you like looking like a fool. Then you do you.

Independent Fabrication - Ti Factory Lightweight Frame

IM. IN. LOVE. I've been lusting after Moot's Vamoots RSL, but this Indy Fab Ti frame just might steal my heart. Check the detail on the seat stays. ILL! The first prototype will be shown at Boston Area Handbuilt Bicycle Exhibition (BAHBE). It will be raced for 2 days then sent for testing. Don't fear, the version 2 is already in works and according to Indy Fab "It will be so aggressive and intimidating that people will run in fear." I believe it. Indy Fab has been putting out some of the nicest rides in recent memory. Can't wait to see it built up.

2010 Interbike - Mission Workshop Merino Zip Up

Every cyclist knows merino wool is the business. it provides natural moisture wicking, keeps you warm, and doesn't stank after days on days of heavy use. Its nature's gore-tex.

Mission Workshop is killing it lately on the cycling apparel. From bags to shoes and now to technical clothing. Super minimalist look with all the tech. My cup of coffee. No price point yet. Stay glued to Prolly for updates.

    Phinny Signs to BMC

Cycling prodigy, Taylor Phinny, to sign with BMC for the 2011 season. Even though he's been riding with RadioShack this summer. I initially thought the most logical team for Phinny was RadioShack, because he was riding for Livestrong U23 team and the affiliation with Armstrong. He'll be based in Italy for the 2011 pro season setting him up to ride in some of the classics and the grand tours. Good move for BMC to pick up this young talent. BMC has a great team but they're all getting older. Evans and Hincapie are past there prime and need to pass down the torch.

Phinny was being pursued by RadioShack, the new Schleck team and Garmin-Transitions. He explains that BMC just offered a lot more growth and opportunities. For a young star growth within a team is all that matters. Money will come, but the opportunities come and go. Especially if you plan on going to the olympics. He needs to be on the same bike for at least 2 years. RadioShack would offer Phinny a 1 year deal while BMC would offer 2.

But that's just half the story. It appears that Armstrong broke all communication with Phinny after BMC made the initial offer. Bad move by RadioShack. Phinny is the future.

    DnA: CicLAvia

Today, the radio show DnA (Design and Architecture) on KCRW had bicycle centric topics ranging transportation to design. Here's the gist.

"We’ll hear about CicLAvia, LA’s own version of Ciclovia, a concept invented in Bogota, Colombia, where roads are closed to cars on a Sunday for use by bikers and pedestrians. This has been so popular it is happening in many cities worldwide, and LA will hold its very own, on October 10, on 7 1/2 miles of roads from Boyle Heights to East Hollywood. We’ll also hear from the Mayor about the LA City Bicycle Plan, as well as why he likes biking and about his belief in changing the road culture in LA to accomodate bikes. And, since DnA is a design show, transportation designer Stewart Reed will bring us up to speed, as it were, on advances in the technology that harnesses pedal power."

Real dope idea. With the recent bicycle safety awareness program and now CicLAvia, LA is bringing bicycle advocacy to the fore front. But I do have one concern. Riding your bike through Boyle Heights isn't the safest idea, even if the streets are blocked off. Better bring your kevlar and peacekeeper.

LOL! Look at kid's bike in the front then look above him. Look at the kid's wheelset in the front then look above him. Kid's wheelset cost more than most people will ever drop on a bike. And a TT helmet? Guess the parents blew all the money on the wheelset and forgot to get clipless pedals and shoes. Bad parenting.

"Bjarne Riis has removed Andy Schleck and Stuart O'Grady from the Vuelta a Espana after the pair violated team rules by drinking alcohol after dinner."

Pretty sure Andy Scleck is just over Team Saxo Bank. Especially since it'd already announced in 2011, Alberto Contador will be joining the team as the Schleck brothers depart. Ain't nothing wrong with a little dranky drank either.

    Give me Tre

    Image from here.

Ever since LA's mayor, Mayor Villaraigosa, got injured while riding his bike he's been the biggest advocate for bicycle safety.

"On the steps of Los Angeles’ City Hall, Mayor Villaraigosa, in partnership with LACBC, Midnight Ridazz, LADOT, and LAPD, announced the winner of the Bike Awareness and Safety slogan contest by unveiling the “Give Me 3″ bus shelter posters, designed by graphic artist and LA cyclist Geoff McFetridge. The winning slogan was submitted by Danny Gamboa from Long Beach and will be visible in 150-200 bus shelters and Public Amenity Kiosks (PAKs) throughout the City. The remaining 800-850 ads will be installed between now and December on PAKs and bus shelters as space becomes available."
