Native Shoes - S/S Video

I could care less for Native shoes, you know those croc looking things for hipsters. But, I do care about girls, bikes, girls with glasses, girls rocking shorts, and girls wearing glasses rocking shorts riding bikes.

Independent Fabrication - Cyclocross

Indy Fab put together this dope rally inspired cyclocross bike for a friend of one of the frame builders. Complete with tow hooks, and rally race plaques. Loving those details.

Fred Perry Cycling Blank Shirts

I'm all for when cycling tech clothing meets fashion (i.e, Rapha x Paul Smith), but this gets a giant MEH. I understand the reason behind Paul Smith dabbling with cycle wear, and it was executed to perfection when they teamed up with Rapha. But this attempt by Fred Perry doesn't do anything for me. Why would I want to wear a champ stripe jerseyesque shirt out? Sorry Fred stick to tennis.

Outlier Bomber Jacket

Outlier is killing me. I've been looking for a clean bomber jacket with out all the hoopla. And the 4Season fabric is used. And it's a tailored jacket with performance in mind. And it has merino wool lining the cuffs and collar. YOU'RE KILLING ME SMALLS. It has a steep price tag of $290. But like all things cycling related the price always reflects the quality.

2011 Cinelli Mash Histogram Pre-Order

MANNNNNN. I must fight the urge to cop. Last time this happened I sold my Fuji Track Pro and copped the 2010 Cinelli Mash in grey. If you have no will power, head on over to Mash SF's blog for information on how to pre-order. Or if you want to try your luck at your local spot, the frames are dropping late May.

H+SON!

Via Highsnob.

A look into how H+SON create those beastly rims. Pretty dope video on the production. Some things you'd never think of that would go into manufacturing those hoops.

Phil Wood Track Hubs

ILL! Feeling that bronze and touch of blue. You can win these 32h high flange hubs at The Lord of Griffth III put together by the people at TOLA happening June 5th.

Velo Cult

I was in San Diego over the weekend repping IMBC at Stone's 2011 homebrew competition. After the competition I had some free time so I dropped by Velo Cult to see what's happening.

They collabo'd with Freight Baggage on some rolltop bags. Really dope bags adorned with Velo Cult's all seeing eye patches coming in a few colors (sorry no pics). Also coming soon should be new sweaters and shirts. OH, and water bottles.

Stay in the know at Velo Cult's blog.

atmos x Oakley

What do you get when you beast out some beast sunglasses? You get these glow in a the dark jumpoffs. Atmos collaborated with Oakley on a pair of Jawbones. It def has some wow factor at night, but in the light it's just meh. The best part of this? The comments on Hypebeast. Def LOL worthy.

Mixtape Velo Crue Jersey

MVC Jersey

MVC Jersey

MVC Jersey

I handled a jersey swap with the SF/Oakland based cycling crew Mixtape Velo Crue (MVC). The homie Ryan designed the entire jersey and it came out super clean. Loving the colorway. What do I say always say about the details? ITS ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS. Check that topography map on the rear pockets. Easily my favorite part of the jersey. The MVC logo couldn't have been done any better. M-power anyone?

MVC will be thoroughly repped in LA.

Keirin: Speed Racers

One of my friends put me up on this. Dope mini doc. It shows the insides and the realness of Keirin racing. From the gambling to the Keirin school and everything in between this video is dropping knowledge.

The best part was when a racer crashed they put that NJS goodness on a stretcher instead of the rider.

Riis Riding that Contador Train

"“Contador is the strongest rider I’ve ever had in my team. Alberto is of the same calibre as Merckx, Armstrong, Hinault and Indurain,” Riis told Gazzetta dello Sport, implying that the Spaniard is better than his former protégés such as Ivan Basso, Andy Schleck, Carlos Sastre and Tyler Hamilton."

Bold words from Riis, team manager of Saxo Bank-SunGard. Putting Contador on that high of a pedestal is a bit pre-mature. Better than Merckx? Doubt it. Better than Armstrong? Doubt Contador can ever touch those 7 wins. I hate to admit it but Contador is a strong rider. Easily top 5 rider in today's pro scene, but definitely not a GOAT.

Giant Ass Serotta

Via LAfixed's Lycra Mafia thread.

Lycra Mafia killing it with these finds. Its Conan O'Brien's on a massive Serotta (check that extended head tube). I mean if you're going to stunt, stunt right. So far I'm liking what I'm seeing from these celebs. Except Yao Ming's ugly ass whip.

Giant Ass Moots

Via LAFixed's Lycra Mafia thread.

Literally. This Moots was seen in a bike shop in Westlake. Supposedly it was for NBA hall of famer Reggie Miller. This reminds me of Yao Ming's ugly ass bike, but just more stuntastic. And that wound up fork don't hurt the steez.

Jealous? Check.

Headbadges

They def don't make headbadges like they used too.

MOTH ATTACK!!

Besides Greg Townsend, Moth Attack is LA's only other custom frame builder, and the only female frame builder to show face at this year's NAHBS. NAHBS showed her some love with a write up. Read the article here. The track bike above is her personal whip. HOLY HUGE CHAIN RING BATMAN!

New Bike Day - Ryan

finished 2006 bianchi pista

finished 2006 bianchi pista

Mixtape Velo Crue (MVC) rider, Ryan, bombed my Flickr stream with his latest track bike a 2006 Bianchi Pista. I'm a sucker for black frames, and the touch of celeste just makes it even better. The best part? The detail on the rear wheel. Check that spoke game. It's on point. Ride safe homie!

Review - Rapha Base Layer

Rapha Baselayer

Rapha Baselayer

I took advantage of Rapha's deal on a 3 pack of merino wool base layers. In the past I've been using synthetic base layers, and they did there job. Kept me warm in cool weather, but when it got hot it was not the business. Come in merino wool base layers. One word: TRUTH. It regulated my body temperature by adding warmth when it was cool but not so much to overheat me when it warmed up. It felt like I was wearing nothing and didn't restrict any of my movement. And the most important part, I didn't wreck like ass after the ride. I'll never go back to anything else. Rapha base layers saved my ride.

Drop that extra dough on quality base layers. Don't cry and say it's too expensive when you're dropping money on your bike like you have a golden goose in your backyard. You'll thank me later.

You know the drill. Cop hurrr.
